Christian Green

Christian Green is the Professional Instructor of Bassoon at Western Michigan University. He is also on faculty at Hillsdale College, where he participates in the faculty quintet. He has given master classes at Miami of Ohio, Eastern Michigan University, and Bowling Green University focusing on reed making and orchestral excerpts.

Green is the principal bassoon of the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. He also performs the role of second bassoon in the Lansing Symphony and Flint Symphony Orchestras. In addition to these positions, he performs regularly with many others in Michigan including Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, and the Detroit Opera.

As an active chamber musician, Green is a current member of the Ann Arbor Symphony Woodwind Quartet and the Hillsdale College Faculty Woodwind Quintet. He is a former member of the Heidelberg Faculty Woodwind Quintet and served as the bassoonist for CASM (Chamber Artists of Southeast Michigan). CASM is a chamber collective that serves Southeast Michigan. Green has joined the Akropolis Reed Quintet on tour twice.

Green received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan studying with Dr. Jeffrey Lyman. Upon completing his degree, he continued his studies at Northwestern University under the tutelage of Christopher Millard and David McGill. He participated in master classes with Markus Weidmann, Steven Dibner, and Jeffrey McCray. His additional teachers include Robert Williams, Lewis Kirk, Charles Ullery, and Nancy Gores.
