Vocal Performance

The School of Music at Western Michigan University offers a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance.

Students in this program can experience an incredible range of performance opportunities including traditional choral repertoire, chamber music, early music, vocal jazz, opera and large masterworks, and solo recitals. WMU truly is a place where singers feel dedicated, challenged and inspired.

Graduates of the Bachelor of Music in vocal performance can be found performing on stages around the world as soloists and in choirs. Many continue their studies and teach their own private studios and at the collegiate level.

Degree Requirements
The instrumental music performance program requires a minimum of 126 credits, with 70% of coursework within the School of Music, and 30% in general studies. School of Music coursework includes:
Private voice lessons with faculty
Choral ensemble performance
Chamber ensemble performance
Music theory, aural skills, and history
