Becky Cooper is coordinator of the Academically Talented Youth Program's English department at Western Michigan University and an ATYP English instructor. She has been with the program since 1997. Becky received an M.F.A. from Western Michigan University, where she also teaches courses for the Lee Honors College, and has been published in "Backwards City Review," "Third Coast Magazine," "The Light Stonechapbook" and "13th Moon" literary journal.

Filmmaker Chris Hefner has used her sonnet sequence "A Small Corona for the Freak Show" and her poem, "Still" as subjects for his work. She is presently seeking publication for her poetry manuscript, "How the Body Learns to Float" and working on two novels. Becky lives in Kalamazoo with her husband, Tom Deater, and her son, Whitman Bowie.
