The Upward Bound-Kalamazoo and Upward Bound-Van Buren programs will be serving participants virtually during Fall 2020. For both Upward Bound programs, tentative dates for programming events and the official start date of tutoring will be announced soon. Additionally, all requests to visit the Upward Bound office on Western Michigan University’s campus must be confirmed with a staff member before the visitor arrives. If you need more information about visiting the Upward Bound office, please email Keenan King, Director of Upward Bound at keenan.a.king@wmich.edu.

The Upward Bound Program provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance. The program provides opportunities for participants to succeed in their pre-college performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits. The Upward Bound Program serves high school students from low-income families and high school students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degree.

The goal of the program is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of post-secondary education.

The Upward Bound Program is federally funded through the U.S. Department of Education.
