Dr. Lindsay Jeffers is a tenured Faculty Specialist II in the Department of Spanish at Western Michigan University.
Dr. Jeffers is the Coordinator of dual-enrollment in the Department of Spanish, supervising the instruction at three area high-schools, namely Kalamazoo Christian HS, Kalamazoo-Loy Norrix HS, and West Ottawa in Holland, MI. Dr.
Dr. Jeffers is also the Advisor of the Spanish-Education track, working together with the College of Education and Human Development in guiding students who want to pursue a degree in Elementary Ed or Secondary Ed and Spanish. Her support for future Spanish educators takes her to area schools, with which she works closely for student practicum placements. A former high-school Spanish teacher, Dr. Jeffers teaches Spanish 5580 and 6580, classes focused on teaching methods for world language instructors at the elementary and secondary levels respectively. She works with both current and future teachers and provides advising regarding certification, coursework, and degree planning.
Dr. Jeffers directs and teaches the SPAN 4400 Service Learning course every Spring semester. She works closely with area non-profits, agencies and immersion schools who serve the Hispanic population in the greater Kalamazoo area.
In addition to those highly-especialized classes, Dr. Jeffers teaches courses in conversation, composition, and culture.
