Dr. Mariola Pérez de la Cruz is a master faculty specialist in the Department of Spanish at Western Michigan University. She is Director of the Introductory Language Program for 2021-22.

She specializes in Spanish philology and 20th century Spanish literature. Her research focuses on post-war Spanish novel and theater, which she studies from a sociohistorical perspective. Her book, "Carlos Muñiz: Lola espejo oscuro," is an edition of an unpublished play censored under the Franco dictatorship.

Pérez de la Cruz serves the department as coordinator of the compositional Spanish language program and as community outreach coordinator. She also organizes the semi-annual Hispanic Film Festival at WMU.
