Bio:

Patricia Villalobos Echeverría is a Professor of Printmedia at Western Michigan University's Gwen Frostic School of Art. Patrica joined the Frostic School of Art in 2010.

She has a hybrid practice of prints, photos, installations and participatory projects that pivot around issues of migration, navigation, displacement and transformation. She was born in Tennessee to Salvadoran parents and grew up in Managua, Nicaragua. She received an MFA from West Virginia University and a BFA from Louisiana State University.

Recent participatory projects include Transporta Managua (Managua, Nicaragua) 2017; tukituktuk, (Feijiacun, Beijing, China) 2017; trans_porta sivar (San Salvador, El Salvador) 2014. Recent Solo Exhibitions include DESDOBLES, Malagana, (Managua, Nicaragua) 2017; Memeplex @ N14°06'17" W87°11'59", Centro de Artes Visuales Contemporáneo CAVC/MUA, (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) 2013; SWARM at The Americas Collection (Miami, FL), 2013. Notable group exhibitions include International Printmaking Alliance Exhibition, Beijing Taimiao Art Gallery (Beijing, China) 2016; After the Pedestal, The Sculpture Center (Cleveland, Ohio, USA) 2016; I Bienal del Sur. Pueblos en Resistencia, Museo de Bellas Artes (Caracas, Venezuela) 2016; Post-Digital Printmaking. Redefinition of the concept of matrix at Neon Gallery (Wroclaw, Poland), 2015; In Art We Trust - Sol del Rio Arte Contemporáneo (Guatemala City, Guatemala), 2013; PrintEd: HERE, Contemporary Prints from the US, Turkey and Ireland, LSAD Gallery, Limerick School of Art and Design, (Limerick, Ireland), 2013; and the IX Havana Biennial (Havana, Cuba), 2012. Notable grants include the Oregon Arts Council Fellowship, PA Council for the Arts Fellowship, Creative Heights Residency Fellowship from the Heinz Endowment and residencies at Ox-Bow, Artist Image Resource, The Studio for Creative Inquiry at Carnegie Mellon University and the MacDowell Arts Colony.
