Patrick D. Wilson is an associate professor of art and Sculpture Area Coordinator at Western Michigan University's Gwen Frostic School of Art. Patrick joined the Frostic School of Art in 2014.

Wilson was born in Crookston Minnesota. He received a BA from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1997 and an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2005. He has recently exhibited at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art Artists Gallery, San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art, The Jones Center for Art in Austin, NASA Ames Research Center, Berkeley Art Center, Stanford Art Gallery and many others. He has installed public commissions at the Mall of America and the University of Minnesota. Though formally trained in fabrication and foundry, Wilson’s current work explores the integration of photography and digital practices with traditional woodworking techniques. Recurrent themes in his work include the fragmentation of perception and memory, and the sculptural surface as narrative landscape. In addition to making art, Wilson designs and builds furniture. He has been a visiting faculty member at the San Francisco Art Institute and has held numerous other teaching positions. In 2012, Wilson was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to China where he was affiliated with the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and researched construction sites throughout the mainland.
