Keyboard Performance

The School of Music at Western Michigan University offers a Bachelor of Music in keyboard performance.

This degree program provides a broad spectrum of performance opportunities and musical experiences to prepare exceptional students for a professional music career and beyond. Students train directly with studio faculty throughout their time at Western.

Students meet weekly with the professor, attend regular studio classes and have the opportunity to perform as soloist and in many collaborative settings. Frequent guests of the School of Music and the Gilmore International Keyboard Festival provide exposure to a variety of significant artists.

Degree Requirements
The instrumental music performance program requires a minimum of 126 credits, with 65% of coursework within the School of Music, and 35% in general studies. School of Music coursework includes:
Keyboard Studies such as Accompanying, Keyboard Literature, and Keyboard Pedagogy
Performance opportunities at all levels
Chamber ensemble performance
Large ensemble performance
Music theory, aural skills, and history
