WMU Library Student Information
Student book borrowing periods
Students may borrow books for up to a semester.
Responsibilities
Please - do not loan your Bronco Card or borrow materials for others. Only the cardholder is eligible for borrowing privileges. You will be held accountable for any fines that others accrue. Do not provide unauthorized users with access to online information and do not systematically download or retain substantial portions of digital information. Such actions infringe copyright and license restrictions and can result in loss of library privileges.
Fines, Fees and Replacement Costs
You are responsible for all materials borrowed on your Bronco Card and for returning borrowed items either on or before the due date. A lost fee will be applied five days after the recalled due date if the item has not been returned. Borrowing privileges will be suspended if you have one or more recalled item overdue.
If any item is more than 45 days overdue, it will be considered lost and you will be billed for replacement charges of $75.00 per item. The library will also assess a non-refundable $15.00 per item processing fee.
These charges may also apply to any damaged items. If a lost item is returned within six months of the billing date, the lost item fee will be refunded, but not the processing fee.
Recalled books
All library materials are subject to recall. If the library recalls an item you have borrowed (via e-mail notification), you must return it by the due date indicated on the recall notice. You are guaranteed use of the material for at least 14 days.
Borrowing privileges will be suspended if you have one or more recalled items overdue.
Returning items
Books may be returned to Waldo Library or one of the branch libraries on campus or through one of the convenient drop boxes. Drop boxes are located inside the Education Library, near the front doors of Waldo Library, and curbside on Arcadia St near Waldo Library. Do not place library books in any cardboard book boxes on campus – these are not drop boxes for the library.
Library materials must be returned complete with all parts, discs, booklets, and other accompanying material. You will be charged full replacement costs for items returned without all accompanying material.
