GEAR UP Learning Center Summer Camps
Brain Power to Boardroom is a free, week-long summer camp for rising 7th and 8th grade students attending public schools in Kalamazoo, Parchment, Bloomingdale, Bangor, and Comstock. The camp will take place July 19–24.
Put on your thinking cap and take the lead! Throughout the week, students will strengthen their critical thinking, creativity, and leadership skills while exploring the worlds of marketing, entrepreneurship, and strategic decision-making. Campers will have the opportunity to meet with student-athletes and gain insight into the exciting field of sports management and discovering what it takes to succeed behind the scenes in the business of sports.
Each day is packed with engaging, hands-on experiences, interactive workshops, team-building activities, and opportunities to explore new interests. Along the way, campers will connect with peers, mentors, and college faculty while gaining valuable insight into the professional business world and developing skills that will serve them well in high school, college, and beyond. After a day full of activities, students will return to WMU dorms for a restful night. Students are required to stay overnight at the dorms.

Healthcare Heroes is a free, week-long summer camp for rising 7th and 8th grade students attending public schools in Kalamazoo, Parchment, Bloomingdale, Bangor, and Comstock. The camp will take place July 19–24.
Throughout the week, students will discover what it means to make a difference through careers in healthcare. Campers will explore a variety of health professions while learning how physical, mental, and emotional well-being work together to support overall health. Through hands-on activities and interactive learning experiences, students will gain a deeper understanding of holistic healthcare and the many ways healthcare professionals care for individuals and communities.
Campers will also have the unique opportunity to meet and interact with therapy dogs while learning about the important role animal-assisted therapy plays in supporting mental and emotional health.
After a day full of activities, students will return to WMU dorms for a restful night. Students are required to stay overnight at the dorms.

Explore, Encounter, Excel: The Merze Tate College Experience is a free, week-long summer camp for rising 7th and 8th grade students attending public schools in Kalamazoo, Parchment, Bloomingdale, Bangor, and Comstock. The camp will be hosted July 12th - July 17th. Student drop off is July 12th at 4:00 PM-6:00 PM. Pick up is on July 17th at 11:00 AM-noon. Both pick up and drop off are at Western Heights East 1925 Ring Rd N, Kalamazoo, MI 49008.
Throughout the week, students will explore a variety of academic disciplines and career pathways, encounter the skills, strategies, and resources needed for success in school and beyond, and excel by building confidence, leadership, and a vision for their future.
Each day is filled with engaging, hands-on experiences, interactive workshops, team-building activities, and opportunities to discover new interests. Campers will connect with peers, mentors, and college faculty while gaining valuable insight into college life and the many possibilities that await them. After a day full of activities, students can expect an evening of fun including: a private movie screening at KP Cinema, unlimited 3 hour trip to Airway Fun Center, tickets to Growler's baseball game, and pottery painting at Art Bayou. Students are required to stay overnight at the dorms.

Drop off is from 4-6 PM July 12th at Western Heights East 1925 Ring Rd N, Kalamazoo, MI 49008.
Parents and families are highly encouraged to come to our informational BBQ July 12 from 6-8 PM. Food, drinks, and vibes will be provided. We will use the time to go over camper expectations, the week's agenda, and for you to meet our team.
