The WMU Advocates and Allies are men committed to personal action in support of women and gender equity on campus. Advocates and Allies programs equip men with the knowledge, skills, and strategies to effect positive personal, unit, and organizational change. Advocates are allies with an established record in support of gender equity who dedicate significant time and effort to the Advocates and Allies program by leading Ally workshops, organizing activities, and working with women colleagues to set priorities and strategies.

Mission
Acknowledging the campus problem of gender inequity, the WMU Advocates will promote gender equity through accountability, advocacy, education, and partnership. Through education, advocacy, partnership, and accountability, the WMU Advocates will reduce the problem of gender inequity on campus.
Vision
We envision a campus community that is welcoming and accessible, free from gender bias and discrimination, and that provides an equitable environment for people to thrive.

The ADVANCE Midwest Partnership is a cross-institutional effort of Iowa State University, Michigan Technological University, North Dakota State University, and Western Michigan University funded by the NSF Advance program to promote increased equity, diversity, and faculty retention and career advancement of faculty in science, technology, engineering or mathematics.
