Dr. Lusike Mukhongo is an associate professor in the School of Communication at Western Michigan University. She has experience researching participatory digital cultures, global media, and mobile technologies. She is a recipient of research awards and fellowships such as Mozilla Common Voice (2022), Africa No Filter (2022), British Academy (2013), Coimbra Group Fellowship (2008), and Germany Academic and Exchange Service-DAAD (2005).  She is also a member of several professional associations, such as the International Association of Media and Communication Research (IAMCR), the National Communication Association (NCA), and the Association of Internet Researchers (AOIR).

She has published her research in peer-reviewed publications such as:
