Each spring semester, the College of Arts and Sciences at Western Michigan University recognizes select faculty members for their exemplary contributions to the college via Faculty Achievement Awards and the Gender Scholar Award.

Among the 15 individuals recognized throughout the college, four hail from the School of Communication: Dr. Jennifer Machiorlatti, Dr. Richard Gershon, Dr. Heather Addison and Dr. Leah Omillion-Hodges. All recipients received an award of $1,000 for departmental research and were honored at a special ceremony on April 8, 2015.

The caucus gives the recognition annually to someone who advances research in gender studies.

Dr. Richard Gershon was the recipient of the Faculty Achievement Award in Research and Creative Activity.
