Microsoft HoloLens Art History Experience

Posted by Kylie Owens for International Congress on Medieval Studies

The Microsoft HoloLens Art History Experience is a mixed reality experience where users wear a headset to explore an immersive medieval environment. Using Immersive Realms, an app developed by Dr. Elina Gertsman, participants can walk into a mixed reality space and see an array of holographic objects (e.g., laser-scanned reliquaries) that they can pick up, scale, and place throughout the space. This is an opportunity to interact with objects that are now behind glass in museums—tapestries, reliquaries, automata, and more—but which were meant to be lived with, touched, handled, and shared.

In order to sign up for the Microsoft HoloLens Art History Experience, please follow this link and sign up for a time slot on Friday, May 9.
