Self-Nomination

The International Congress on Medieval Studies, hosted by Western Michigan University's Medieval Institute, is accepting self-nominations for members of the body of contributing reviewers for sponsored and special sessions for the 61st and 62nd Congresses (2026 and 2027). Each contributing reviewer reads and evaluates all sponsored and special session proposals for each Congress, an intensive period (we estimate 30-40 hours) of work in mid-June. The program committee for each Congress takes the assessments of the contributing reviewers into consideration in the acceptance and rejection of proposed sessions.

Each year the body of contributing reviewers is composed of five returning members (in the second year of their 2-year terms) and five new members (in the first year of their 2-year terms).

A committee appointed by the Board of the Medieval Institute each year will select the new class of contributing reviewers from the self-nominations with an eye to creating diversity across many categories: field, type of institution, rank, experience, sponsoring organization(s) with which affiliated, and a variety of categories of personal identity (such as race, gender, sexual identity, neurodiversity, disability).

The deadline for self-nominations for 2-year terms beginning in June is May 31, 2025.
