Current Job Title:
Describe your current job:
I am a project coordinator in the Data Management Services division of StructureTec. We are the evaluation phase of the business. Specifically, our team evaluates buildings or assets, then create recommendations and a budget for the owner to ensure the lowest overall cost of ownership. This could be in all three disciplines (roofing, paving, vertical restoration) that StructureTec has expertise. In the office, I help develop new technologies, processes and control current processes to ensure quality and that improve client relationships.
What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is the exposure I get to many projects. We work on a lot of fast-paced jobs, and when we deliver a restoration/maintenance plan that our client can follow and know that their building/asset will be safe and dry for years to come is a good feeling. Plus I get to travel to some pretty cool places! The most challenging part of the job is exactly why I like it so much. It is fast paced, I am working on 6-12 projects each quarter. Managing that gets challenging at times, but that's what makes it fun.
What activities, resources, or people helped you prepare for your career?
I was a student assistant for the WMU football team, and that not only prepared me to be a better person, but it prepared me to lead and communicate on a level I wouldn't have learned anywhere else.
What advice would you offer students to help them decide on a career path?
Learn, learn, learn. You never will know everything; I have learned so much in many experiences in one year out that I will be able to take with me and grow no matter where I am employed.
