On-campus, in-person engagement options

Employer Career Chat Kiosk

  • Employers may use the Career Chat Kiosk to brand their company on campus, provide information about their organization and culture, and promote available job opportunities to students.
  • Outdoor sessions will take place near Sangren plaza; indoor sessions will take place on the main level of the Bernhard Center (WMU student union) outside the Cafe.
  • The kiosk is available for use any day of the week, and is generally scheduled between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The cost is $125 per session, except for registered nonprofit organizations ($75 per session).
  • Employer kiosk visits are promoted to students through Handshake, WMU's job portal, and collateral will be posted on student information boards and TVs in building lobbies. 
  • Employers may give away approved items, Pepsi brand beverages, etc., and may also play approved games or trivia with students.
  • Food giveaways: WMU policies on food giveaways varies based on the location of the Kiosk session. A member of the employer engagement team will follow up with more information after scheduling your session. 
  • Please note that the Kiosk may not be used for any type of fundraising per WMU policy.  No items may be sold from the unit.

Engineering employer information sessions

  • Information sessions are two hours in length and give employers the opportunity to present directly to engaged engineering students.  
  • Presentation formats vary, but generally the following is discussed:  company history and culture, products or services designed or manufactured, available job opportunities, career path options, competencies or skill set sought in candidates, how to apply for positions, and address general student questions. 
  • Employers should plan to present and engage with students for the full two hours.
  • Sessions cost is $250 and includes career services reserving space, session marketing to students, parking for employer representatives, food and beverages for students at session, and assistance with set up and student check in.
  • Information sessions are held on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, from 4 to 6 p.m.  Employers arrive at 3:30 p.m. to receive a parking pass and set up the presentation room by 4 p.m.

Engineering employer lobby spotlight program

  • Participating in the Engineering Employer Lobby Spotlight program at the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences in Floyd Hall provides an opportunity for casual interaction and information sharing between employers and students.  
  • Lobby tables are provided at no cost and may be reserved on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
  • All sessions take place between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Please arrive at 10:30 a.m. to receive a parking pass and set up by 11 a.m.
  • Tables are located on the first floor main lobby near the entrance of the DENSO Commons Parkview Cafe.
  • Employers may give away approved items, Pepsi brand beverages, etc., and may also play approved games or trivia with students.
  • Food giveaways: snack items are the only acceptable food giveaways for spotlights in Floyd Hall since sessions take place directly in front of the DENSO Commons Parkview Cafe. WMU policy prohibits competing for the sale of a meal from WMU dining services.

On-campus interviewing

  • Request an interview schedule through Handshake.

  • Manage your interview schedule through Handshake.

  • Interviews may be conducted Monday through Friday,  between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., based on availability. 

  • Interviews are conducted in Ellsworth Hall on main campus, in the Career and Student Employment Services offices. 

  • Students can register for interviews using Handshake, WMU's student job portal.

  • Parking is provided for employer representatives.

Information table at Bernhard Center (WMU student union)

  • Having an information table provides an opportunity for casual interaction and information sharing between employers and students.
  • Information tables at the Bernhard Center-BHC are available to employers at no cost when reserved through Career and Student Employment Services. 
  • Tables are located on the lower level of the BHC and are available between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • The Bernhard Center requires that all requests are submitted at least three full business days before the desired visit date.
  • After a request is received, a member of the employer engagement team will submit it on the employer's behalf to the BHC.
  • When our staff receives confirmation from the BHC staff, we will send you parking information and BHC information table rules and guidelines.
  • Employers may give away approved items, Pepsi brand beverages, etc., and may also play approved games or trivia with students.
  • Food giveaways: snack items are the only acceptable food giveaways for information tables in the BHC, since WMU policy prohibits competing for the sale of a meal from WMU dining services.
