Bronco Spotlight: Mitchell Decker
Procurement Analyst at Steelcase
I work on the North American Logistics Procurement team which handles all of our trucking, rail, and some air transportation contracts, rates, and service levels. In my role I analyze our logistics data, help with growth optimization projects, and work on cost savings opportunities. We also work daily with the logistics team to maintain high customer service and assure that our supply chains are running efficiently and effectively.
What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is having a visible and meaningful impact on the company through the work that I do. The logistics atmosphere in the U.S. is always changing, and being able to work with the changes and provide benefit for Steelcase through that is always rewarding. Also, the values and culture Steelcase has, and the investment it puts into its employees is a huge benefit. The most challenging part of my job is finding the right metrics and data to report on for projects, and then adapting that to provide the best concise information for project stakeholders.
What activities, resources, or people helped you prepare for your career?

Second, joining organizations on campus like APICS, Fiji, Dance Marathon and others gave me invaluable skills to help me grow and succeed. Lastly, activities through the ISM program like case competitions and networking events gave me real world experience to help me prepare.
