Middle School English Teacher at Linden Grove Middle School

I am currently one of the two 6th grade English teachers at Linden Grove. I teach students ranging from advanced literature to special education daily. My job is one of the most heart-warming and exciting jobs I have ever had and I’m grateful to be able to touch so many lives in my occupation.

What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is being a stable, trustworthy person for my students. I am always there for them, as much as I can possibly be, and seeing them succeed makes it all worth it. On the opposite side of that, the most challenging part is breaking through to the students who have spent their whole lives building walls and pushing others away. I see so much trauma and pain in people only the age of 11.

What activities, resources, or people helped you prepare for your career?

The most preparing part of my career was being able to take part in internships around the Kalamazoo area. Also, the amazing professors I has pushing me along the way and helping me find everything I needed to do my best.

What advice would you offer students?

Keep pushing.  Even when the journey gets difficult, it is always worth it when you achieve your goal.
