If you had a campus job or internship, how did they impact your career development?

The professional experiences I’ve gained through an internship and campus employment were truly invaluable. Taking on the 2019 tax season with a local CPA firm allowed me to employ knowledge gained in the classroom and test my fit within my chosen field. Working as Program Assistant for the Sanford Center for Financial Planning and Wellness, as well as an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Department of Finance and Commercial Law presented me with the challenges and unflappable support I needed to push my limits.

Which of your skills had the biggest impact on your success?

Discipline. It’s what I lack when I struggle, and what I have in spades when I’m successful.

What experiences impacted the choice of your career path?

My mentor at HCoB helped me to understand my strengths, and most importantly, temper the sometimes unfair expectations I can have of myself. His guidance taught me it’s okay to be nervous, but it’s never okay to sell yourself short.

What advice do you have for others pursuing a career similar to yours?

Be sure to keep doors open for yourself. You’re worth the effort. At all times, you are worth all your effort.
