Program Manager of Patient Experience at CHRISTUS Health

I am responsible for the leadership, design and implementation of initiatives that fulfill our mission here at CHRISTUS Health. I also promote a culture of patient and person centered-care which emphasizes outstanding service and compassion. As the Program Manager, I represent the “Voice of the Patient” and collaborate and partner with leaders, medical staff and employees to ensure that all patient experiences under the CHRISTUS Health umbrella of services, embody the highest degree of service and compassion.

What activities, resources, or people helped you prepare for your career?

I always refer back to my high school days playing football. I truly believe that me persevering through those days prepared me for the difficult times I experience within my job and life.

Which of your skills had the biggest impact on your success?

The skills that I feel had the biggest impact on my success are the ability to listen and communicate well and also the ability to build relationships. In my role, I have very little to no authority and responsibility to get the work done but I’m accountable for when the behaviors don’t happen. It’s been very beneficial for me to gain the trust of employees and having that relationship with them.

What advice do you have for others pursuing a career similar to yours?

I’ve found that I am able to pull something from all of my previous jobs to help me be successful in my current career. As a young person, never think that you are too good for a position because you never know what skills and experience you could gain from that job that’s “beneath” you.
