Master of Arts in geological and environmental studies, 2019

Researcher at Geospatial Agency of Indonesia

I am a data analyst for spatial mapping. I operate a GIS software, and map for disaster projection with statistical approach.

What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?

I enjoy mapping and data collection at the field; sometimes I must go snorkeling to get the data, or go to the forest, a field rice, or walk up and down a mountain.

What experiences impacted the choice of your career path?

During my master’s program, I frequently registered myself to join a free training at my department. Don't hesitate to take internship, training program, and make a published scientific paper! A certificate and diploma is never enough. Keep fighting!

What advice do you have for others pursuing a career similar to yours?

Never stop to learn; field work is the real laboratory and class. You can't always stick to the basic scenario that you've learned from the book; lots of different conditions or possibilities occur. Always look for innovation and research, so you can get new insight to solve your problems at work.
