Chemical Process Engineer at AdvanSix

My job requires me to evaluate various chemical processes involving unit operations to determine if there are ways to increase yields and savings. Part of the job also requires designing pieces of equipment.

What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?

The most rewarding part of this job is that I am able to use everything that I learned at WMU in this job. The education that WMU has made me well equipped to be successful in a demanding industry.

What activities, resources, or people helped you prepare for your career?

My professors in the Chemical Engineering department at WMU provided a strong education that helped prepare me for my career. The various software like Aspen and Minitab are tools that I use in my career. Also, the Engineering Expo and LinkedIn are great opportunities for networking with new companies and individuals.

What advice do you have for others pursuing a career similar to yours?

My advice would be to take school seriously and to learn as much as you can while at college. The more you learn at college will help to make you a more successful individual in your future career. I would also suggest to be involved with the clubs at WMU. It is a great way to become great at talking to new people and increasing your network at WMU.
