Server at the Kalamazoo Country Club; Future Occupational Therapist

As a server I maintain close relationships with the members while enhancing their dining experience. I greet tables, take their food and drink order, deliver their food and beverages, clear and clean tables, and occasionally make the beverages.

What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?

The most rewarding part about my job is getting to spend time with our lovely members. I have built strong friendships and working relationships with many of the families. I enjoy and look forward to coming to work every day because of my fellow servers and the membership at KCC. The most challenging part about my job is working holidays and weekends in which I would be spending time with friends and family.

What activities, resources, or people helped you prepare for your career?

There were many people that helped prepare me for my career. My professors and fellow classmates were a major part of my educational experience. My professors are all extremely knowledgeable in the field and I felt that they cared about me as a person, student, and future OT. My classmates are all extremely hard working and passionate people who inspire me to learn and grow in my career while enjoying the ride along the way with the friendships we have built.

What advice do you have for others pursuing a career similar to yours?

My advice would be to simply pay attention in all your classes and soak up all the information you possibly can. Knowledge is power.
