Elementary Art Teacher at New Buffalo Area Schools

As an elementary art teacher, I am responsible for planning and facilitating engaging art projects for  students in pre-K through fifth grade. I am also responsible for maintaining the physical and emotional  health and safety of my students.

What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job as an elementary art teacher is that I am able to work with students every year throughout their elementary career. The most challenging part of my job is that there are a lot of names to learn!

Which of your skills had the biggest impact on your success?

I believe the skills that had the biggest impact on my success are the simplest ones. Being early, having a positive attitude, being prepared, and doing extra.

What advice do you have for others pursuing a career similar to yours?

Students that are pursuing a career in education should take every opportunity to soak up knowledge. Every teacher observed, every conference attended, every project completed has something to teach you.
