Business scholarships

The Haworth College of Business offers a variety of scholarships that can be added to the overall support you receive from WMU. Recently added scholarships include the Dean's Engagement Scholarship, which awards incoming students involved in the Business Professional Association, Distributive Education Clubs of America or Future Business Leaders of America in high school.

If you’re a creative, strategic thinker with a passion for communicating, the advertising and promotion major is the right choice for you. Courses focus on experiential learning and portfolio development, with one-on-one attention from faculty with industry experience.

Interested in turning measurements into insight? With a business analytics major, you can play an increasingly important role as organizations seriously analyze internal and external data to drive their decisions. Opportunities abound for professionals experienced with data analytics.

The interdisciplinary nature of the business law program gives you a competitive edge; you will be able to solve problems at the intersection of law and business. This major also prepares you to use your law-related skills in real estate, mediation services and entrepreneurship.

The computer information systems major provides you with the strong foundation in information technology that employers seek. You will be prepared for careers in web and mobile application development, IT security, business analytics, database administration and customer relationship management.

This fully online, interdisciplinary program prepares you to prevent data breaches, cyberattacks and online threats. Interactive trainings, real-world projects and security-related certifications give you the required skills to enter the workforce as a competent cybersecurity professional.

The interdisciplinary major combines the study of marketing and information systems to prepare you for careers in fields such as e-commerce, data analytics, digital marketing, social media, and web application development and services.

The economics in business program develops your abilities to identify complex problems, think analytically and apply strategic decision-making processes. This degree prepares you for a career in a number of fields, including commodities trading, journalism and foreign service, among others.

In the finance program, you will develop a broad understanding of financial decision making. Case studies, internships and study abroad opportunities will enable you to learn the skills necessary to become a leader in the financial industry.

This program will prepare you for professional careers in the food and consumer package goods industries. You will have opportunities to be heavily recruited by leading firms, including manufacturers, sales agencies, distributors, retailers and marketing research firms.

The human resource management major gives you the specialized skills to help organizations build a lasting competitive advantage through their most critical resource—their employees. The program provides the professional skills required to strategically solve the challenges facing today’s changing workplace and workforce.

Consistently ranked as a top national program, the interdisciplinary integrated supply management major prepares you for a challenging and high-paying career. Expect a curriculum that combines supply chain, engineering and information technology, along with skills in team management, communication and problem solving.

The leadership and business strategy program gives you a competitive advantage and accelerates your career, no matter your major. You will gain the skills most desired by top companies—leadership, teamwork and strategic problem solving. The program culminates in two internship-level consulting experiences. 

You will learn to build and maintain valuable relationships with customers by creating, delivering and communicating value through sound, data-supported strategic planning. Your career prospects include positions in business-to-consumer, business-to-business, consumer goods and service companies, as well as nonprofit organizations. 

The personal financial planning major gives you knowledge of valuation of securities, insurance, estate and retirement planning, and employee benefits. WMU students satisfy the requirements to take the CFP exam, with graduates achieving an impressive 89% pass rate—which is 27.5% higher than the national average.
