Bio:

Tayler Mercil serves as Manager of Recruitment and Outreach in the College of Education and Human Development, where she creates meaningful opportunities for prospective students to explore, connect, and thrive at WMU. Through strategic recruitment initiatives, experiential events, and collaborative partnerships, she helps students and families envision what is possible at WMU and beyond while building strong connections between the university and the communities it serves. She leads  the college’s student ambassador team, creating high-impact student employment experiences that support professional growth and contribute meaningfully to recruitment and outreach efforts. She believes the most meaningful learning happens through connection, experience, and opportunities to lead.

Tayler also serves as a First-Year Experience instructor, teaching one section each fall semester and supporting new students as they transition academically and socially into college life. Her teaching emphasizes student success, belonging, well-being, and helping students identify and build on their strengths while developing habits that support long-term achievement.

In addition to her professional roles, Tayler serves as an adviser for WMU's collegiate chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA at WMU), supporting student leadership development and helping create pathways for students to explore education and career opportunities through meaningful engagement and hands-on experiences.
