Registrar’s Notes – April 7, 2014

April Commencement RSVP

Please remind seniors graduating this semester to reserve their commencement tickets by Wednesday, April 16 if they plan to attend the graduation ceremony. The RSVP form can be found in GoWMU. Students can also RSVP by calling the Registrar’s Office at (269) 387-4300. Reserved tickets will be available for pick up in the WMU Bookstore in Textbook Alley.

Student Concern Form

As we approach the end of the semester, student stress and anxiety tends to increase. Faculty or staff concerned about a student can report this using the Student Concern Form. Information recorded on the form is confidential and goes directly to the Dean of Students Office. They will review the concern and will follow up with the student. There is a link to the Student Concern Form on the Faculty menu in GoWMU.

Degree Works Tip

Since Degree Works requirements are catalog year driven, it is important to make sure students are listed with the correct catalog year. If you discover discrepancies in the way courses are being pulled into Degree Works, please take a moment to verify the student’s catalog year in Banner. We are finding this is often the source of the problem, particularly with transfer students. In December, the Office of Admissions started entering the year the transfer student started at the Michigan community college as their WMU catalog year. The catalog year for transfer students admitted prior to December will need to be corrected on a case by case basis by the college advising office.

Catalog Proofs

Catalog proofs for the 2014-15 Undergraduate and Graduate Catalogs were sent out in March. If your unit is responsible for reviewing content, please make sure your corrections are returned to Laurie Foster in the Registrar’s Office as soon as possible. We are planning to have the

2014-15 catalogs available online June 2.
