New Three-Quarter Time Enrollment Status

Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21) added a new provision to limit Subsidized Stafford borrowing to 150% of a student’s published program length. This resulted in numerous enrollment reporting changes; including the addition of a new three-quarter time enrollment status. Here are the new time status rules that went into effect last week:

Spring 2015 Registration

Registration for Spring 2015 opened this morning for graduate students. Priority registration goes through Thursday, October 30. The complete priority schedule can be viewed online.

As are reminder, the first time a student accesses the schedule of course offerings or registers for courses in GoWMU for a fall or spring semester, they are prompted to update or validate their contact information. In addition to entering a permanent/home address and emergency contact information, students will now be required to enter a cell phone number. If they do not have a cell phone, they are directed to enter their primary phone number in the field.

Inactivating SGASTDN Records

This morning, OIT will be inactivating SGASTDN records based on the following logic:

If the student has no future active SGASTDN record, no current or future registration and no registration or academic history within the past year, then the SGASTDN record will be inactivated.

Student records meeting the above criteria will continue to be inactivated on a weekly basis. This process will accomplish the following:

  1. Alert advisors that a student no longer has current status and will need to apply for admission in order to register for future terms

  2. Prevent the awarding of financial aid to students who have filed a FAFSA but are no longer

attending WMU (or have never attended WMU)

  3. Assist with reporting data for current students

If you have questions regarding this process, contact Marcy Ohs, Interim Associate Director of Operations, at @email.
