Transition advising hold

Starting with summer I 2016 term, a "TA" Transition Advising Hold will be placed on a student's record when they are admitted to WMU as a new transfer student. New first-year students entering in a spring semester will also have this hold placed on their account beginning with the spring 2017 semester. The purpose of the hold is to encourage students to meet with an academic advisor before registering for classes to ensure they are taking classes appropriate for their program and not duplicating work already completed.

Summer registration

Registration opens next Monday for summer I and summer II 2016. Priority registration will go through Friday, February 12. The complete schedule can be found on our website.

First work grades

The first work submission deadline is approaching. First work grades are due in Banner by Monday, February 15. Providing students with an early indication of how they are performing in a course be valuable, especially in 1000 and 2000 level courses. Instructors are asked to follow up with a midterm grade no later than March 14.

Portfolio feature

The Portfolio feature in the online catalog allows you to track program, course or policy information that is important to you. By clicking on the "Add to Portfolio" link at the top of the catalog page, you will be able to save items in your portfolio that you can retrieve during subsequent visits to the catalog website.

Letter to FTIAC students

A letter was recently sent from the Ombudsman's Office to Fall 2015 FTIAC students who received a GPA less than 1.00 in their first semester and did not return to WMU this spring. A total of 61 letters were sent offering assistance in addressing questions or concerns. The letter also provided students with information on the Hardship and Non-Attendance Withdraw Appeal process.
