ar and parking holds lifted

In an effort increase fall enrollment, the Accounts Receivable hold amount was temporarily raised last week from $300 to $1,000 and all parking holds have been lifted. An email was sent to affected students notifying them that their hold has been lifted and encouraging them to register for classes. The holds will go back on September 20.

spring 2017 working reports

Thank you to all the departments who submitted their Spring 2017 working reports to the Registrar’s Office by the July 15 deadline. For those departments who have not yet returned their working report, please do so by tomorrow. Contact Laura Thomas or Richard Carbonneau with any questions.

reclaim the w

61 students have been readmitted under the Reclaim the W program for the Fall 2016 semester.  Reclaim the W was started in 2014 to restore first year students that were dismissed at the end of their second semester.   To date, 71 students have gone through the Reclaim the W program.  Of those students, 65% received a fall semester GPA of 2.00 or higher and were eligible to continue at the WMU.

This fall, Reclaim the W is being expanded to include first year transfer students and students dismissed after their second year at WMU.  This year’s Reclaim the W cohort includes 27 first year students, 14 second year students and 20 transfer students.  An additional 13 students, dismissed at the end of the Summer I session, have been contacted about the Reclaim the W opportunity and have until July 22 to submit their materials for review.

Students are offered the program based on application, advisor recommendation and essay.  The students will be attending one of four Reclaim the W Welcome sessions prior to the start of the fall semester.  The Welcome session will cover topics such as time management, motivation, study skills etc. to help get their academic year off to a positive start.   Students will also be attending a mandatory UNIV 1030 class this fall.

In the event you are working with a Reclaim the W student, you may notice they have an "RG" Registrar's Hold on their account.  This purpose of the hold is to ensure that the student works with an advisor to make any schedule adjustments.  The hold will remain on their record until removed by their advisor.

advisor of record

An advisor of record is being assigned to all incoming beginner and transfer students. This is the fourth year the college advising offices have been entering the information in an effort to provide students with a point of contact.

If you would like to see the advisor assigned to a particular student, you can find the information in Banner on the SGASTDN screen. Click on "Options" and go to "Assign Advisor to Student." You can also see the advisor of record in Degree Works at the top of the worksheet, next to the student photo. Students can view the advisor of record information in Degree Works and in GoWMU by clicking on "Academic Services" and then "View Student Information."
