Spring 2017 course offerings

Course offerings for the Spring 2017 semester will open for viewing this morning. The schedule of course offerings can be accessed from the Registrar’s Office website or through GoWMU using the Course Offering link. Registration starts on Monday, Oct. 10.

Fall 2016 registration changes

Students still needing to add a Fall 2016 course to their schedule can do so with the approval of the instructor and the department chair. The registration will need to be done in the Registrar’s Office and a completed Permission to Late Add form is required. Students will need to submit a Permission to Late Add form for each section they wish to add. Forms submitted with multiple sections listed will not be accepted.

Since we are past the drop and add period, students are not able to “swap” sections of a course. Changing sections will require the student to withdraw from one section and go through the late add process in order to register for another section.

First work grades

First Work grades are due today and instructors are encouraged to follow up with a midterm grade by Monday, October 24. An important step in improving retention is to identify and reach out to students who are having difficulty early on in the semester. Reporting students who are struggling academically will provide a mechanism by which advising offices can follow-up with students at-risk.

First work and midterm grades can be entered in GoWMU using the Midterm Grade Worksheet. Grades can also be reported through D2L.  Additional information on midterm grading, as well as for instructions on how to submit midterm grades via Elearning, can be found on the Registrar’s Office website.

Security re-authorization

The semi-annual security re-authorization is scheduled to begin on Oct 1 and run through Oct 15. The security re-authorization process allows us to audit access to critical computer systems used at WMU and to ensure that users are familiar and up to date with the latest policies. On Saturday, all users and their supervisors will receive an email notifying them that re-authorization has started. The email will include instructions on how to complete the electronic re-authorization process.

Fun facts

Over 2,000 employees have access to one or more of the systems listed above and will need to complete the security re-authorization process.
