Semi-annual re-authorization
The semi-annual student information systems re-authorization period begins today and will close on February 22. Supervisors will have through March 1 to approve or deny the re-authorization.
An email was sent to anyone with access to one or more student systems. The email contains instructions on how to access the online form in GoWMU.
Automated reminder notifications will be sent during the re-authorization period until both the employee and the supervisor have approved or denied the reauthorization.
Please direct any questions to the Registrar’s Office at (269) 387-4300.
Midterm grades
Just a reminder, midterm grades are due one month from today on Monday, March 11.
Instructors can report students who are not performing well, have excessive absences or are missing multiple assignments using the Report Student Academic Concern form located on the Faculty Menu in GoWMU.
When a student is reported, the information is sent to the Registrar's Office, Residence Life (if the student is living on campus) and the academic advisor (if the student is an undergraduate). In addition, a comment is added to the “Notes” section in Degree Works. If the student has granted Proxy access to a parent, the parent will have access to the Academic Concern note in Degree Works.
Grading
Grading for the Fall 2018 semester has been closed. Students who were not issued a grade by the instructor have been given an incomplete. Instructors can remove the "I" grade using the "Remove Incomplete Grade" link on the Faculty menu in GoWMU.
Spring final exams
Final exams will be held April 22 - 25. Instructors that have classes that are out of the academic scheduling matrix will need to contact the Registrar's Office to arrange a day, time, and location. The deadline to request review sessions and special final exams (makeup, mass, etc.) is Friday, February 15.
Questions regarding final exam scheduling should be directed to Richard Carbonneau.
Banner 9
Pro Tip
As a reminder, Banner 8 will no longer be available beginning March 1. Please log into Banner 9 and become familiar with it. While the forms and processes have not changed, the overall look and feel are different.
A video tutorial is available and walks you through some of the differences.
Question from the field
Banner page names have both a description and an abbreviated name with seven letters. The letters indicate the type of page you are viewing:
Position 1:
Identifies the Banner product owning the page.
S = Student
G = General
T = Student Accounts
Position 2:
Identifies the application module owning the page:
A = Admissions
C = Catalog
F = Registration/Fee Assessment
G = General Student
H = Grades/Academic History
L = Location Management
P = Person
S = Schedule
T = Validation page
Position 3:
Identifies the object type code of the page:
A = Application
I = Inquiry
P = Process
V = Validation
Position 4, 5, 6, and 7
Identifies a unique four-character code for the page and tells you the most information about the specific function:
***IDEN = Identification (SPAIDEN)
***STDN = Student (SGASTDN)
***SECT = Section (SSASECT)
***CMNT = Comment (SPACMNT)
Banner has been said to have its own dialect depending on who trained you. For instance, I have heard SPACMNT as Spa Comment and Space Mountain. There is no one way to pronounce Banner forms.
