Midterm grading

We are in the final two weeks of midterm grading for the spring semester. Midterm grading will remain open through Monday, March 11. Midterm grades can be entered in GoWMU using the Midterm Grade Worksheet. Grades can also be reported through D2L. Additional information on midterm grading, as well as instructions on how to submit midterm grades via Elearning, can be found on the Registrar’s Office website.

Transfer course credit planning form

If you are working with a student who is planning to take a course at another institution over the summer, don’t forget about the Transfer Course Credit Planning Form.  This form allows students to obtain pre-approval that the course will transfer back to WMU. Once the student completes the form, they bring it to their college advisor for approval along with a copy of the course description. The signed form should then be submitted to the Registrar’s Office where it will be recorded and available when the transcript arrives from the guest institution.

Security re-authorization

The semi-annual student information system re-authorization is currently underway. It will remain open through March 1. Any questions regarding the re-authorization can be directed to the Registrar's Office at (269) 387-4300.

Pro Tip

It will be easier to learn Banner 9 if you compare can compare it with Banner 8.

Question from the field

How can I search for a page but I don't know the exact name?

In Application Navigator, you can enter a partial name and a list will appear that relates to the page for which you are searching.  For instance, if you want to review the registration audit trail for a student, enter "audit" in the search field and all pages that have the word audit in the page name will be displayed.

Meet the Registrar's Office
Laura Thomas

Laura began her career at WMU 20 years ago. Her initial position was at the customer service counter. After serving in various capacities in the Registrar's Office, she recently accepted the position of Student Success/Marketing Specialist Sr. In this position, Laura has the opportunity to reach out to students who have completely withdrawn for the semester as well as communicating with students about registration, important dates, and graduation information. She is also responsible for the web content of the Registrar's Office and the Commencement websites as well as the publication of the weekly Registrar's Notes.

Laura is an avid hockey fan and can be found watching the Red Wings both on television and traveling to Detroit to watch them in person. Her favorite players are Danny DeKeyser and Luke Witkowski both of whom played Bronco hockey.

Laura enjoys cooking and baking, kayaking, camping, reading, taking far too many pictures of her dogs, and playing Cribbage. She thinks that the best time is time spent with her family and friends. She also loves to travel with her husband and has been all over the world as a result. Additionally, she was recently promoted to grandma and if asked, she may show you a couple (hundred) pictures of her grandson.
