Reminder: new graduation application deadlines

There are now just two deadlines for graduation applications: Oct. 1 for April graduation and Feb. 1 for June, August and December graduations. The first deadline to reflect this change will be Oct. 1, 2019, for April 2020 graduation.

The new deadlines will be firm, as they ensure that all students will have a completed final audit before the start of their last semester. Previously, final audits were not completed until after the add/drop period was over, so students with unfulfilled degree requirements did not have the opportunity to adjust their schedules accordingly. Our goal in changing the application deadlines is to prevent students from having to delay their graduation due to unanticipated audit findings.

Notary services available for transcripts

Students are able to request a notarized copy of their transcript through our transcript vendor, Parchment. When selecting this service, the transcript will be printed and notarized by staff in the Registrar's Office before being sent via USPS. The $10 notary fee is paid through Parchment along with the transcript fee.

Undergraduate GPA revision request for change of major

This semester, the Faculty Senate Undergraduate GPA Revision Policy went into effect. Undergraduate students who have not yet received a bachelor's degree may apply for a one-time GPA revision when changing their major to one in a different department. If approved, a maximum of three courses may be removed from the student's GPA.

GPA revision criteria:

  • The course(s) must be taken within the first three semesters of attendance at WMU.
  • The course(s) were from a declared major, prerequisite or cognate.
  • A grade of "E" or "X" was earned. No other grades may be considered for GPA revision.
  • There is no finding of responsibility for academic integrity violation in the course(s).
