December 6, 2019

This is the final edition of the Registrar Notes for the fall semester. We will resume sending biweekly emails in January. Have an excellent holiday season.

Final exams next week

Exams begin Monday, Dec. 9, and conclude Thursday, Dec. 12. Reminders:

  • All exams must be held as noted in the final exam schedule in the normal classroom, unless other arrangements have been made with the Registrar's Office.
  • If WMU should close during Monday through Thursday of final exam week, the exams scheduled on that day of closure would automatically move to Friday (Dec. 13) without affecting any other exam day. Rescheduled exams will take place at the same times and in the same places as originally scheduled.

Fall commencement: reserving additional tickets

Fall commencement ceremonies will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14. Graduating students who reserve their tickets before Dec. 9 may request up to two additional tickets from Dec. 12 beginning at 7:30 a.m. to Dec. 13 at 5 p.m. Additional tickets will be available while quantities last on a first-come, first-served basis. Graduates have received multiple email reminders from the Registrar's Office.

Fall final grades due by noon on Dec. 17

The final grade worksheet will be available for grade submission until noon on Tuesday, Dec. 17. Students will not be able to see their grades online until the grade roll process is completed in the Registrar’s Office. This is done shortly after noon on the day grades are due and nightly thereafter. Grades not submitted on time can cause problems for student graduation, financial aid and academic standing. A list of instructors who do not meet the grade deadline will be sent to the Provost on the afternoon of Dec. 17.

Spring tuition invoices now available

Spring 2020 tuition is due Thursday, Jan. 2. As a reminder, tuition invoices will only be available online. Students can grant access to parents or others as authorized users by logging in to GoWMU, selecting the “Payment and Account Information” option and following the prompts provided.

Spring One Stop open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 6 and 7

The One Stop Convenience Center is assembled on the second floor of the Bernhard Center each fall and spring semester to provide students and their families with a variety of campus services in one centralized location. Representatives from several areas will be available, including Accounts Receivable, Student Financial Aid and the Registrar's Office.

Reminder: WMU does not provide first work grades

Please review faculty onboarding materials (e.g., offer letters, calendars, etc.) to ensure that submitting first work grades is not listed as a required task.

Did you know? A fun fact from the Registrar...

Nearly 1,700 students are graduating from WMU this fall. The oldest graduate is 63 years old; she returned to WMU in 2017 to complete her bachelor's degree after being away for 39 years!
