Today is the last day to drop/add spring classes

Students may drop and add via GoWMU today until 11:59 p.m. If students need to make adjustments after the deadline, departments can assist on Tuesday, Jan. 18, until 5 p.m. Courses can be added or dropped on that day without academic or financial penalty.

After Jan. 18, dropping a class is considered a withdrawal and will show on transcripts with a grade of "W". Courses can be withdrawn in GoWMU from Jan. 19 to March 21. The refund schedule is listed in the calendar at the bottom of this email.

Preparing for spring census

Spring 2022 census will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 18. In preparation, please ensure the correct instructor of record has been entered in Banner for all sections, sections on hold have been canceled or made active and all students attending have been registered so they will be counted (this includes students completing thesis and dissertation hours, independent studies, internships, seminars, etc.).

Admitted Student Events

Admitted first-year and transfer students are encouraged to register for an Admitted Student Event this winter/spring. At the event designed exclusively for incoming students, students and families will spend a day on campus and learn what it means to be a Bronco. This is a great opportunity for them to learn more about WMU and get to know campus, and students can receive one-on-one help to guide them through the enrollment process, should they be ready to do so. Other activities include campus tours, lunch with their academic college and meeting current Broncos in the RSO showcase.

There are five on-campus Admitted Student Events, including one for honors-eligible students:

  • Friday, Jan. 28
  • Friday, Feb. 11 (honors)
  • Friday, March 18
  • Friday, March 25
  • Friday, April 8

How can you help?

If you’re working with an admitted student, be sure they know to register for the event at wmich.edu/admissions/futurebronco. It is also helpful for students to confirm their admission prior to the event, and the preceding website provides those instructions. And, on event days, we appreciate your partnership in being a welcoming face on campus, assisting students with navigating campus or answering questions they may have.

Provide your feedback on renovations to Dunbar Hall

The Dunbar Hall Design Team has transformed the main lobby of the Bernhard Center into a mini furniture showroom with classroom chairs and lounge pieces. Please stop by and provide feedback on which options you would like to see in the renovated building. You can also see the furniture options and complete the survey virtually through Friday, Feb. 18.

Summer course offerings available Jan. 24; registration begins Feb. 7

Reminder: Feb. 1 is the deadline for June, August and December 2022 graduation applications

Once the deadline has passed, students may submit a late application for an additional fee or apply for the next available graduation term. Earlier this week, the Registrar's Office mailed a postcard to eligible students. More information regarding the communication cycle will be shared in the next edition of EM News. Please contact John Scott with questions.

Did you know? A fun fact from the Registrar...

More than 4,850 students were on the Dean's List last fall. A searchable version of the list is available online
