Fall commencement tomorrow
WMU is hosting in-person commencement ceremonies tomorrow to celebrate fall graduates. Ceremonies will be available to livestream via wmich.edu/commencement. Ceremony times are as follows:
- 9 a.m.—College of Health and Human Services, Haworth College of Business
- 12 p.m.—College of Arts and Sciences, College of Aviation, Merze Tate College
- 3 p.m.—College of Education and Human Development, College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, College of Fine Arts

Final grades due Dec. 20
The final grade worksheet is available for grade submission until noon on Tuesday, Dec. 20. Students will not be able to see their grades online until the grade roll process is completed in the Registrar’s Office. This is done shortly after noon on the day grades are due and nightly thereafter. See tips and best practices for grading at wmich.edu/registrar/faculty-staff/grades.
Admission deadlines
Spring 2023
- All domestic undergraduate student types: Jan. 1
Fall 2023
Applications and all related materials must be received by the Office of Admissions by the following deadlines to be considered for admission:
- Fall 2023 entry for first-year students:
- The Dec. 15 Early Action Deadline has passed. We are no longer accepting first-year applications for aviation flight science and direct admission to the Bronson School of Nursing.
- June 1, 2023, Rolling Admission. Admission to all other WMU academic programs. Consideration for admissions merit scholarships has been extended to June 1!
- Fall 2023 entry for transfer and all other undergraduate student types: Aug. 15, 2023*
Students should visit wmich.edu/apply to select their student type and begin their application for admission.
*Transfer students interested in aviation flight science must apply for fall entry and complete their admission application by Feb. 15. Learn more about admission criteria by visiting the Competitive Admission Program page.
Updates from Student Financial Aid
Holiday recess information
Student Financial Aid and Bronco Express will be closed for the University’s holiday recess Friday, Dec. 23, 2022, through Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023. Services will reopen at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4.
During this closure, emails to Financial Aid will NOT be processed. Emails will be considered received as of Wednesday, Jan. 4, and will be processed within seven to 10 business days. Students may check the status of their awards at any time using goWMU.
- Financial aid for the spring semester should begin to pay out to WMU student accounts after 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4, assuming all requirements are met.
- Electronic refunds should begin to disburse beginning Thursday, Jan. 5.
- Refund checks will be mailed beginning Wednesday, Jan. 11.
Spring semester begins Jan. 9; last day to drop/add is Jan. 17
Students may drop and add via goWMU until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17. After Jan. 17, dropping a class is considered a withdrawal and will show on transcripts with a grade of "W". Courses can be withdrawn in goWMU from Jan. 18 to March 20.
