Fall commencement tomorrow

WMU is hosting commencement ceremonies in Miller Auditorium tomorrow to celebrate fall graduates. Livestream links are available via wmich.edu/commencement and will become active shortly before the ceremonies begin. Ceremony times are as follows:

  • 9 a.m.—College of Education and Human Development and College of Engineering and Applied Sciences

  • Noon—College of Health and Human Services, Haworth College of Business and Merze Tate College

  • 3 p.m.—College of Arts and Sciences, College of Aviation and College of Fine Arts

Final grades due Dec. 19

The final grade worksheet is available for grade submission until noon on Tuesday, Dec. 19. Students will not be able to see their grades online until the grade roll process is completed in the Registrar’s Office. This is done shortly after noon on the day grades are due and nightly thereafter.

Updates from Student Financial Aid

2024-25 FAFSA

Federal Student Aid (FSA) has recently announced that the 2024-25 FAFSA is set to go live by Dec. 31, aligning with the statutory requirement that mandates the form's availability by Jan. 1. Students should have 2022 tax information available when applying. More information is available at wmich.edu/finaid/apply.

Winter recess information

Student Financial Aid and Bronco Express will be closed for the University’s winter recess Friday, Dec. 22, through Tuesday, Jan. 2. Services will reopen at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3.

During this closure, emails to Financial Aid will NOT be processed. Emails will be considered received as of Jan. 3 and will be processed within seven to 10 business days. Users may check the status of their account at any time using goWMU. Financial Aid for the spring semester should begin to pay out to WMU student accounts after 5 p.m. on Jan. 2 (assuming all requirements are met). Electronic refunds should begin to disburse beginning Jan. 4. Refund checks will be mailed beginning Jan. 10.

Updates from EM-Tech

Remember to decision spring 2024 applications!

Please remember to clean out your application review queue prior to heading out for the holiday break. Upon return, application reviews should be completed daily for optimal service to incoming students. The last day to admit a student in Enrollment Management CRM (Salesforce/TargetX) is Monday, Jan. 8.

Virtual Enrollment Management CRM training sessions available

Virtual skill-building sessions are now available for the Spring 2024 semester and in-person options will be available for registration once room availability is confirmed. All participants must have an active Enrollment Management CRM (Salesforce/TargetX) account when registering.

Spring semester begins Jan. 8; last day to drop/add is Jan. 16

Students may drop and add until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16. After Jan. 16, dropping a class is considered a withdrawal and will show on transcripts with a grade of "W". Courses can be withdrawn from Jan. 17 to March 18. 

Admissions Future Bronco Days

The Office of Admissions, along with many campus partners, invites admitted students and families to campus for one of six Future Bronco Days programs:

  • Friday, Feb. 2
  • Friday, Feb. 16 (honors students*)
  • Friday, March 15
  • Friday, March 22
  • Friday, April 12
  • Saturday, April 13

Attendees will be able to complete their next steps, as well as explore academic areas of interest, tour campus academic and living spaces with a current Bronco and engage with staff and students about scholarships, student life and support service. Please encourage interested students to register beginning in January at wmich.edu/admissions/futurebronco.

*Admissions and the Lee Honors College will host prospective honors students for an Honors Future Bronco Day on Friday, Feb 16. Students can learn more at wmich.edu/admissions/honors.

Nearly 1,200 students will graduate from WMU this fall. The oldest graduate (MA in Family & Consumer Sciences) is 73 years old and the youngest graduate (BA in English: Literature & Language) is 19 years old!
