WMU offers multiple services beyond the classroom to enhance your overall educational experience. These offices stand ready to continue to provide service at a distance. All offices can be reached by phone and email and many are providing virtual engagement opportunities.
Career and Student Employment Services at Western Michigan University offers comprehensive career development and engagement between students and employers for internships and jobs. We provide career advising, assistance with resumes, cover letters, interviewing, salary negotiation, job search strategies, job fairs, campus employment. We also deliver workshops and presentations, and report on WMU graduates' career outcomes.
Dining Services offers a variety of dining options designed to meet a wide range of food preferences and needs. Western Michigan University has numerous healthy foods to choose from in Dining Services.
The mission of Disability Services for Students at Western Michigan University is to make education accessible. A student is a student, regardless of the issues, challenges or conditions faced. DSS advocates for the student to be provided with the appropriate tools to allow that person the opportunity to reach goals and potential. Those tools, academic accommodation or adjustment, facilitate learning while maintaining the integrity of course content and outcomes.
Part of the Division of Student Affairs, Essential Needs supports students through the generosity of WMU faculty, staff, students, alumni and the greater Kalamazoo area community.
The Financial Literacy, Educational Planning and Outreach unit provides students with information about building a financially stable future, including financing their education, knowledge and understanding about student loans, debt and repayment, credit basics, budgeting, saving and investing. Our unit collaborates with other departments across campus and local community organizations to maximize the resources and services we offer.
The mission of the Office of Health Promotion and Education is to create a culture of wellbeing and social justice to enhance the success of all members of the campus community.
International Admissions and Services will help guide you through the process of applying, planning for arrival and settling in to WMU. The international team is here to help you navigate the process of creating a home at WMU socially, academically and professionally.
The Office of LBGT Student Services offers support, education and advocacy around issues of gender identity/expression and sexual orientation to the WMU community. We collaborate with student organizations, university departments and local organizations to provide our campus community with access to healthy resources, activities, and support services.
The mission of Residence Life is to foster a supportive, safe, well-maintained residential environment that promotes belonging, academic success and personal development of students.
The Sindecuse Health Center offers convenient, cost-saving services with an experienced, multidisciplinary staff dedicated to maintaining and improving patient health. We provide evaluation and treatment for a variety of illnesses and injuries, preventive health check-ups, periodic health monitoring, as well as health promotion opportunities that enhance individual and community health.
The Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities uses an equitable and supportive approach to educate and partner with WMU students, faculty, staff and community members in order to develop a civil, ethical and safe campus environment.
The Office of Student Engagement exists to engage campus, empower students and develop leaders.
The SPuRS program guides you, as a business student, in cultivating your interpersonal skills, leadership attributes and professional competencies through co-curricular programming. SPuRS was developed based on employer feedback and prepares you to successfully launch from college to career.
The Student Recreation Center offers open recreation, personal training, sport leagues and group exercise, utilizing equipment and facilities to promote health and well being.
WMU Signature is a student engagement program for students to reflect on their out-of-class learning experiences, to explore and identify a passion, that will be reflected on their WMU diploma.
WMU’s vibrant and distinctive new Student Center is located at the heart of WMU’s main campus in the Hilltop Village. The innovative design includes an array of diverse spaces and customer-oriented retail options, intentionally focused on creating a welcoming and inclusive environment. Support for student organizations, affinity space and lounges are integrated into the building plan to encourage social engagement and co-curricular activities, and to help connect the lines between the classroom and student life.
Western Michigan University's Zhang Career Center ensures business students have the skills to confidently articulate and demonstrate their career readiness to potential employers. We provide business students with resources and experiences that support their success in the work environment and collaborate with employers on hiring talent for their organizations.
