Future Freshmen

Congratulations and welcome to the College of Arts and Sciences at Western Michigan University! As you prepare for your first semester at WMU, we would like to make sure you are aware of the various resources available to students before and after classes begin.

Becoming a Bronco

Confirm your admission to WMU. Let WMU know at this is the university for you! Confirm your admission by making your Admission Confirmation Deposit (or request a deposit waiver) preferably before May 1. This fee confirms your enrollment and is applied to your fall semester tuition.

*All 2020 high school graduates are required to attend Orientation.

Register for housing. Science Scholar Learning is specifically designated for Arts and Sciences Broncos, but there are many other housing options to suit your needs. Register today!

Fall Welcome

Fall Welcome is a three-day program that assists first-year and transfer students with their academic and social transitions to WMU. Fall Welcome is set for Thursday, Aug. 27 to Saturday, Aug. 29.

*All first-year students are required to attend Fall Welcome.

Freshmen year

Advising

As a student in the College of Arts and Sciences, you will have a two-tiered advising system that will assist you in planning your educational path at WMU.

A college advisor will assist you with general education and degree requirements, while a departmental advisor will help you with program-specific requirements for your major and minor. Ideally, you should see each advisor at least once or twice a year to ensure that you are progressing through your program requirements in an efficient and timely manner.
