Application deadlines
All applications MUST be COMPLETE by the due date listed below in order to be considered for admission.
Your application must be fully completed by January 15 (Summer/Fall) or September 15 (Spring) not just submitted. We recommend you submit your application at least two weeks prior to the deadline to ensure recommenders have time to complete their recommendations by the deadline.
Resume/Curriculum Vitae (CV)
A resume or curriculum vitae (CV) is required; please submit within the online application system. Note for Resume: This should be no more than two pages in length, and in addition to the standard elements of a resume (e.g., educational and paid work experiences, etc.), please be sure you identify and clearly label all volunteer human service experience, including starting and ending dates.
Graduate test
This program does not require a graduate test.
Note: International applicants may have to provide evidence of English language proficiency. More information can be found within the online application.
Recommendations
This program requires three recommendation letters. Be certain that persons who are knowledgeable of your academic work and/or your professional experience to date fill out the recommendation forms, e.g. professors, employers, supervisors. Please send email requests for such recommendation from within the online system.
Written statement
Please prepare a statement which covers the following information, and attach it within the online application:
On no more than two type written, double-spaced pages, write an essay discussing your professional goals and answer the following questions: 1) describe your professional goals and discuss your reason for applying to a specific Counselor Education program, 2) what qualities are necessary to establish effective counseling relationships and of these qualities give an example of how you demonstrated those qualities in forming relationships, and 3) describe your interaction or experience working with diverse cultural groups and discuss how such experiences strengthened your appreciation for cultural differences.

Additional information
This 60-hour program combines a counseling core with an emphasis on understanding the issues faced by contemporary couples and families. The program meets the educational requirements for the Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Michigan and is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Working with an advisor, it can also meet the educational requirements for the Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Michigan.
