Welcome, Teaching Assistant (TA) Graduate Appointees

We invite you to attend a training presentation on Wednesday, August 24 at 1 p.m. ET. Facilitated by the the Office of Faculty Development, the session will include information on instructional strategies and support resources, student conduct, and disability support services will be included, as well as a presentation from the Teaching Assistants Union (TAU).

Training Objectives

  • Discussing strategies to promote active learning in a variety of formats
  • Introducing the most commonly used tools and technologies used on campus including WebEx, Microsoft Teams and Elearning
  • Providing an overview of the training calendar and additional resources 

Safety and Emergency Guidelines

Western Michigan University is required to train instructional staff on fire drill procedures according to the Michigan Public Act No. 481: Sec. 19a. (1) A postsecondary educational institution shall ensure that all instructional staff are trained in fire drill procedures before the beginning of each academic year. We have included the fire safety and tornado safety and other emergency guidelines this year as well.  These can be viewed by clicking the links below:
