Bio:

Scott Slawinski has joined the Graduate College as a Faculty Fellow.  Dr. Slawinski earned his doctorate in English at the University of South Carolina in 2002 with specializations in American literature and History of the Book.  He joined Western's English department in 2005 and teaches courses in American and British literature.  His research has focused on gender and literature; his first book, Validating Bachelorhood (2005) investigates images of masculinity—bachelorhood, in particular—in Charles Brockden Brown’s Monthly Magazine and American Review (1798-1800), and he has since produced editions of novels by early American writers Sukey Vickery, Sally Wood, and John Neal.  He is currently at work on a book about Sally Wood.

Dr. Slawinski's task at the Graduate College this year is to enhance opportunities for graduate student professional development.
