  Graduate test

This program does not require a graduate test.

  Recommendations

This program requires three recommendation letters. Be certain that persons who are knowledgeable of your academic work and/or your professional experience to date fill out the recommendation forms, e.g. professors, employers, supervisors. Please send email requests for such recommendation from within the online system.

  Written statement

Please prepare a statement that addresses the following information, and attach it to the online application.
  1. State the special education endorsement you are seeking: emotional impairment (EI), or learning disabilities (LD).
  2. Identify if you currently hold a teaching certificate and, if so, list which teaching certificate you currently hold and from what state.
  3. Summarize your prior related professional experiences to date (e.g., teaching experience, experience working with individuals with or at-risk for disabilities, etc.).
  4. Identify your professional goals, explaining why a special education degree is sought.

This program does not require any previous written work be submitted.

  Other program materials

Supplemental Prompt:
1. Bachelor's degree in education candidates: Upload a copy of your teaching certificate.
 
2.  Bachelor's degree in other areas candidates: A teaching certificate is not required. Instead, candidates are required to have completed at least 60 hours of paid or volunteer work with children or adolescents. Please provide a description of your experience(s) including the approximate hours completed, the child population served, and the name(s) and phone number(s) of your supervisors.

  Transcript requirement

An official transcript from the institution from which you received your bachelor degree is required, as well as a transcript from the institution(s) where any additional graduate level courses or degrees have been taken/completed. Applicants are not required to submit an official transcript of courses taken/completed at WMU.
