Application deadlines
The priority deadline for HESA applicants is January 15.
Applications completed by the priority deadline are eligible for consideration of graduate assistantships (GAs), scholarships, and other financial opportunities, and will receive an invitation to the HESA Preview & Interview Days Program. Applications received after the priority deadline will be considered on a space available basis. The HESA program operates on a cohort basis thus applications are for yearly Fall admission. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a space available basis after priority deadline.
Applicants will complete the application via the online system. Applicant files are considered complete once all of the elements are received within the online system: resume, written statement, educational history and official transcripts, and three recommendation forms.

Resume/Curriculum Vitae (CV)
A resume or curriculum vitae (CV) is required; please submit within the online application system.
Graduate test
This program does not require a Graduate test.
Note: International applicants may have to provide evidence of English language proficiency. More information can be found within the online application.
Recommendations
This program requires three online recommendation forms. Please send email requests for such recommendations from within the online system. In addition, applicants are encouraged to obtain at least one letter of recommendation from one of your recommenders that will be submitted to the online recommendation system.
Written statement
Please prepare a statement which covers the following information, and attach it within the online application.
In three or less, typed, double-spaced pages, address the following areas in your written statement for HESA. Please note, this statement is also viewed as a writing sample.
- Explain why you are interested in pursuing the WMU HESA leadership master's program;
- Address how HESA'S mission of preparing reflective, practitioner-scholars committed to the centrality of diversity and inclusiveness in higher education fits your educational and career goals;
- Briefly discuss experiences you have had to help prepare you for the HESA program;
- Briefly describe any challenges you anticipate if admitted to the HESA program, and how you plan to address them.

This program does not require any previous written work be submitted.

This program does not require any other program materials to be submitted.
Transcript requirement
An official transcript from the institution from which you received your bachelor degree is required, as well as a transcript from the institution(s) where any additional graduate level courses or degrees have been taken/completed. WMU applicants are not required to submit an official transcript of courses taken/completed at WMU. All applicants including WMU students are highly encouraged to submit copies of unofficial transcripts into the application system as well.
