Application deadlines
Students may be admitted in Fall or Spring semester. Application must be received by February 1 to be considered for a graduate assistantship.
Resume/Curriculum Vitae (CV)
A resume or curriculum vitae (CV) is required; please submit within the online application system.
Graduate test
An audition is required for admission to this program (before March 1 for priority consideration). It is your responsibility to arrange for your audition by contacting the appropriate Music studio faculty member directly. Please see wmich.edu/music/directory.
Note: International applicants may have to provide evidence of English language proficiency. More information can be found within the online application and at wmich.edu/music/academics/international.
Recommendations
This program requires 3 letters of recommendation IF you are applying for a graduate assistantship. Please send email requests for such recommendations from within the online system.
Written statement
Please prepare, and attach within the online application system, a statement of 500 to 1500 words detailing your professional goals and your academic and/or career experience to this point.
Previous written work
This program does not require any previous written work be submitted.

Transcript requirement
An official transcript from the institution from which you received your bachelor degree is required, as well as a transcript from the institution(s) where any additional graduate level courses or degrees have been taken/completed. Applicants are not required to submit an official transcript of courses taken/completed at WMU.
Additional information
While it is preferable to audition in person, if you are not able to come to campus, you may submit video and/or audio files for your studio audition via WMU Music Submissions: sites.google.com/a/wmich.edu/music-submissions/ Note: Some studios (e.g., voice) may use video submissions for pre-screening purposes only and will still require an in-person audition for final admission.
If applying for a graduate assistantship, you must submit a separate Music GA application the form due by February 15. See wmich.edu/music/academics/grad/assistantships
