Undergraduate Admissions
BACHELOR OF ART OR MINOR PROGRAM ADMISSION
All prospective students must first apply to Western Michigan University through the Office of Admissions. If you have questions about how to apply online, please call (269) 387-2000.
Students who are interested in pursuing a visual art major or minor must also submit an application to the Frostic School of Art through the online applicant platform Slideroom at frosticart.slideroom.com. The secondary application includes a statement of intent, digital portfolio, and a recommendation. Detailed instructions and requirements for the Frostic School of Art can be viewed here:
APPLICATION DEADLINES FOR ART MAJOR AND MINOR
- October 1—admission and scholarship consideration
- February 1—admission and scholarship consideration
- April 1—admission only
If you are interested in the Art History major and minor, you do not need to submit the secondary application. To declare an art history major and minor, contact our academic advisor, Nick Gauthier at art-advising@wmich.edu, to discuss course requirements at (269) 387-2440 or make an appointment online.
BACHELOR OF FINE ARTS PROGRAM ADMISSIONS
A Bachelor of Fine Arts—B.F.A.—degree provides a more focused curriculum for students with a desire to establish a career as a professional artist. Any student interested in pursuing a B.F.A. degree must first apply and be accepted into the Bachelor of Arts—B.A.—program. After successful completion of foundation art courses, B.A. students have the option to apply to one of the following B.F.A. programs:
B.F.A. in art with an emphasis in:
• Ceramics
• Painting
