How to Prepare for a Research Poster Presentation

Are you a graduate student who is preparing for an upcoming research poster presentation? Have you been asked to create a research poster, but are uncertain how to proceed? Attend this free session to learn the basic information for hosting a poster session. This workshop is appropriate for graduate students in any academic program at the master's and doctoral level and will include helpful information such as:
a) Resources for creating a research poster
b) Do's and don't of designing a compelling research poster
c) How to talk about your poster in less than 5-minutes
d) Best practices for authorship (levels of contribution, order)
View examples of posters and hear from the biology and interdisciplinary health sciences graduate students who designed them to learn how to tailor your poster to meet various departmental or conference requirements. This session is co-facilitated by Dr. Christine Byrd-Jacobs, dean of the WMU Graduate College and professor of biology, and Dr. Laura DeThorne, chair and professor in the WMU Department of Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences.
